Lemon Drizzile Cake ♥

Hi lovelies! As I love baking so much, I had a lovely Christmas present from my mum which was a "Traditional Family Cakes" book with step-by-step guide of how to bake those classic favourites. All together this book has 40 cakes which I'm going to try and bake.
So today I made my first ever Lemon Drizzle cake! I was a bit scared of the word "lemon" but I do want to try out new things!"This cake has a tangy lemon sugar syrup drizzled over it while still warm which permeates through the sponge to give it a wonderful moistness and extra lemony flavour" and I perfectly agree! This cake is good for new bakers like me although in future I want to open my own cake business!

Ingredients:

  • 200g caster sugar
  • 200g plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 3 eggs
  • 150g soured cream
  • 1 large lemon, zest and juice
  • 150 ml sunflower oil
  • zest from the lemon in the icing

  • For the icing:
  • 4 tbsp icing sugar
  • 1 large organic lemon, juice only

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/gas mark 5.
  2. Sift the flour and baking powder together. Add sugar.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, soured cream, lemon zest, lemon juice and oil.
  4. Pour the egg mixture into dry ingredients and mix well.
  5. Pour into a greased and floured 18cm cake tin and bake for 40-45 minutes until well risen and golden brown.
  6. While the cake is baking you can make the icing – stir the lemon juice into the icing sugar so it coats the back of the spoon. You might need a bit of water to get the right consistency.
  7. Just before the cake is done, warm the icing gently to about 40C. Remove the cake from the oven, and take it out of the tin. Prick the surface of the cake with a fork and pour over the warm icing. Give it half an hour or so to cool

{Top Tip}

For a crunchy lemon crust, make the
lemon syrup with granulated sugar
instead of icing sugar.

Free Sample of L'oreal EverPure shampoo + conditioner ♥

*L'oreal EverPure Colour Care System with botanic oils

Recently, L'oreal was offering a free sample of their new EverPure non-sulphate shampoo. I grabbed this offer, as I do adore L'oreal as a brand. Also, my hair was dyed so many times that I want to start taking good care of it now.
It came in a lovely package within two weeks since I ordered it. According to L'oreal, "Specially designed to leave coloured, weakened hair looking shiny and noirished". It is also described as a non-sulphate Colour Care system with botanic oils such as rosemary and juniper.I read several pages about sulphates and apparently they tend to be bad for your hair so I think that using a non-sulphate cleanser will be more natural.
I really like the packing as always L'oreal found a simple and elegant design to suit every bathroom. It costs £5.99 from Boots or Superdrug - quite expensive for me so it is worth to try before you buy!
When I went onto trying it the colour of the actual shampoo is white and it also smells really fresh and nice probably like rosemary. So the smell was very pleasant and a good change from boring fruity and floral shampoo. When washing out hair felt very smooth.
I prefer not to blow dry my hair so I just let it dry naturally.Hair did feel a lot softer but I wasn't that impressed with conditioner because when I brushed my hair it was a bit dangle.
Unfortunately, the sample was only enough for one wash but considering results I might buy a full bottle of EverPure shampoo but not conditioner.

My New Year Resolutions ♥

1. Spend more time learning - I don't want to sound like a nerd, but I do enjoy learning and finding out new things! In the New Year I want to read at least 8 books and get my French and Spanish on better level.

2. Enter more competitions -  I want to continue to enter competitions regularly for things I want to win, and this year the main things I want to aim for are: an iPad, a new mobile, a Canon camera, a Kitchenaid mixer, and a holiday! Fingers crossed!

3. Be more creative - I feel like I was really creative at the beginning of 2012 and then I just kind of stopped doing DIY stuff and renovating items. I really enjoy doing this type of thing as a hobby so I hope to restart it in 2013 :)

4. Dance - about 4 month ago I joined a dance club with my friend and I absolutely love it! I do get very tired about I want to get perfect in dancing this year!

5. Keep tidy and organised - I'm this sort of person that likes everything to be perfect and tidy but usually I just don't have time for this so in 2013 I'm trying to get more organised!

17 fast finish nail polish in sulk + NOTD ♥

This is another item from boots sale. This one was reduced from £2.99 to £1!I think the reason for that was that they simply couldn't open it!:)When I got home I asked one of my parents if they can open it, but they couldn't! We had to use a special building tool to unscrew the lid:)I was quite impressed with quality for such an affordable price! With a single coat I reached high shine + it dried really fast (about 30 seconds)!I absolutly love the green sulk colour! Ussually, I preffer pastels, but this time I felt like buing something brighter! It's been two days now since I applied it and it still haven't chipped off!I'm looking forward to buing some  more nail polish from 17 range!

L'oreal Paris Revitalift total repair first Anti-Ageing BB cream ♥

Yeees! After two weeks desperately looking into my post I finally received it! L'oreals 1st BB cream that targets 10 signs of ageing! It came in lovely package with three samples inside of medium shade in side! Usually when I apply a normal BB, it fells like a mask, blocks my pores and doesn't let my skin breath! Totally different with that one! It goes on like a dream living my skin feeling refreshed and natural! It also evened my skin tone!As me, having some spots, it perfectly covered them and makes difficult to see!The only problem I had was that my skin tone naturally is very light, so medium shade was a bit orange but still gave my skin a little tan!Foundation and anti-ageing cream in one! What else can a girl dream about?
